Dubai Airshow 2025: “The Future is Here”

From 17–21 November, Dubai Airshow 2025 brought together more than 1,500 exhibitors, 200+ aircraft in flying and static displays, and tens of thousands of visitors under the theme “The Future is Here.”

The event was staged at Dubai World Central (DWC), the airport that is itself being expanded into what is planned to be the world’s largest, with capacity for up to 260 million passengers and an investment of roughly $35 billion over the coming years.

The 19th edition placed particular emphasis on:

• Sustainability in aviation, with Dubai Airports’ OneDXB Sustainability Showcase demonstrating a “sustainable turnaround” using electric ground vehicles, hydrogen-powered transport, biofuels, and advanced energy-management systems around an operational flydubai aircraft.
• Advanced Air Mobility, including the first-ever eVTOL flying displays at the airshow and full-scale air taxi concepts, mirroring Dubai’s plans to introduce app-bookable air taxis in the coming years.
• Next-generation passenger experience, with announcements such as Emirates and flydubai rolling out Starlink Wi-Fi across large parts of their fleets, pointing to a new standard for in-flight connectivity.

Everywhere on the ground, the message was the same: aviation is changing fast—towards cleaner operations, new aircraft types, and more connected journeys. Our question at Cyberdrone was simple: how do you show all of that in one coherent story in the sky?

We waved the performance as a chain of transformations. Each figure flowed into the next, mirroring the evolution of flight itself.

Eagle

The show opened with a soaring eagle, wings spread wide, rendered in hundreds of points of light.

The eagle symbolised the original blueprint for aviation: nature’s mastery of the air. It set an emotional tone for the timeline—before engineering, there was observation and desire. The figure also nodded to strength, vision, and altitude, qualities that resonate strongly with the aerospace sector and the region.

Early flying machines

The eagle dissolved into an early flying machine: simplified silhouette of experimental craft with delicate frames.

These were an homage to the pioneers of flight—those first, fragile attempts that bridged imagination and engineering. In the context of Dubai Airshow, they reminded the audience that today’s hypersonic jets and space missions began with small, risky experiments carried out in sheds, fields, and workshops.

Jet-age fighter

From those early shapes, the formation tightened into a sleek fighter aircraft, nose pointed forward, wings swept back.

This figure represented the jet age: speed, manoeuvrability, and the military and defence dimension that is a major pillar of Dubai Airshow. It captured the decades when aviation defined geopolitics, and when performance in the sky became a proxy for national capability.

Rocket

The fighter then elongated vertically, becoming a rocket ready for launch. A trail of light pushed downward as the rocket “lifted”, hinting at escape velocity.

Here, the narrative moved from atmosphere to space, echoing the airshow’s growing emphasis on the space sector and launch technologies. The rocket formation underscored that the future of aerospace is multi-layered: air, near-space, and beyond.

Satellites orbiting Earth

The rocket’s exhaust expanded into a glowing globe, with satellites tracing orbits around it.

This symbolized the shift from occasional launches to the continuous presence of assets in orbit: communications, navigation, Earth observation, and constellations like Starlink that are reshaping connectivity, including in aviation.

For an industry audience, it was a reminder that modern flight is inseparable from what happens above the atmosphere—every route, every approach, every connection relies on space infrastructure.

Dubai in the sky

From the globe, the lines re-assembled into a stylised Dubai wordmark and skyline, anchoring the story back to place.

The figure framed Dubai as both host and protagonist: a city that has turned aviation into a core part of its identity and economy, and that is now investing heavily into Al Maktoum International and the Dubai South ecosystem as the next stage of that story.

eVTOL: air taxis from an app

Next, the skyline softened into the outline of an eVTOL aircraft, rotors clearly defined, hovering in mid-air.

This formation connected directly to one of the airshow’s headline themes: the rise of urban air mobility and the coming reality of air taxis that you’ll book from an app, as easily as a ride on the ground.

In light, the eVTOL captured a future where city maps extend upward, and vertiports become as familiar as metro stations.

Hydrogen-powered aircraft

From there, the figure transitioned into a next-generation airliner, with stylised hydrogen icons and flowing lines suggesting clean energy running along the fuselage and wings.

This was our nod to the hydrogen concepts and sustainable propulsion research highlighted around the show, including physical demonstrations of hydrogen technology at the Sustainability Showcase.

Placed after the eVTOL, the hydrogen aircraft broadened the message: it’s not just small craft that will change—long-haul and regional aviation are also on the cusp of transformation.

Cyberdrone logo

At this point, the narrative briefly turned the camera back on the medium itself as the formation rearranged into the Cyberdrone logo. This moment acknowledged the role of autonomous aircraft—drones—as part of the aviation ecosystem.

“The Future is Here”

The logo melted into text as the phrase THE FUTURE IS HERE appeared, echoing the official theme of Dubai Airshow 2025.

Seeing the tagline in the sky, above the runway where next-generation aircraft had just performed, tied the airshow’s messaging to a single, photographic moment. It was also the answer to our original creative question: can all these threads—history, innovation, sustainability—be held together in one image? This was that image.

Firework made of light

After the words faded, the drones exploded outward into a three-dimensional “firework”, rings and sparks expanding and dissolving in silence.

Instead of smoke and noise, the effect delivered the visual language of celebration using pure light. At an event where sustainable operations and lower emissions were a central talking point, it was a subtle statement: even the “fireworks” of the future can be re-imagined.

To close, the formation tightened into the Dubai Airshow logo, clean and instantly recognisable.

This final frame placed the entire journey—eagle, jets, rockets, satellites, eVTOLs, hydrogen aircraft—inside the identity of the show that convened it all. For organizers, media, and visitors, it was the natural screenshot of the night: the airshow’s own mark, written in the medium that embodies its theme.

Drones at an airshow: the future of flight tells its own story

Staging a drone performance over an active airport, inside one of the most complex pieces of airspace in the region, is not just another show. It required deep coordination with regulators and airshow organizers, strict safety corridors, and meticulous planning for every scenario. But the result answered a simple logic:

Dubai Airshow is about flight. Drones are aircraft.

At an event focused on autonomy, advanced air mobility, and sustainable operations, a 1,000-drone display was a live proof-of-concept. High-precision, fully electric, reusable aircraft moved in perfect formation over the runway, demonstrating in real time what controlled, low-emission flight at scale can look like.

For us at Cyberdrone, the show felt like a conversation between two futures: the one being discussed in conference rooms and static displays on the ground, and the one sketched in lines of light above Dubai World Central. When aviation gathers to ask what comes next, it’s only natural that part of the answer is written in the sky—by flying machines that are themselves part of that next chapter.
